Mike sent in a request for anchor nails — because anchors are his thing, and I respect that! — so I wanted to set it off on a base from one of the other Hunger Games colors. China Glaze Hook and Line (ahoy matey!) is a real stunner; it’s this cool milky metallic grey that goes on thick and beautifully like a heavy-hitter cream but still has a great liquid metal finish to it. It’s sort of hard to describe, but as metal greys go, this one rocketed to the top of my list of faves. Once that dried I used acrylic to paint different anchors on each of the nails; I thought I could get away with not outlining the one on the pinky (it’s so small I figured I’d go cross-eyed trying to bisect the body of it) but it looks off to me that it’s the only one without it, so next time…
Here’s a bit of fun trivia for you too (learn something new every day, right?) — “Anchors Aweigh” was composed in 1906 by a naval Lieutenant and Midshipman First Class as a football march fight song for the 1907 graduating class at the Naval Academy. And I love me a good fight song and/or sea shanty — just ask anyone that’s heard my friends and I hollerin’ songs in the middle of the night skipping home. Because yes, real adults skip. Best verse of “Anchors Aweigh”:
Anchors Aweigh my boys
Anchors Aweigh
Farewell to foreign shores
We sail at break of day ‘ay ‘ay ‘ay
O’er our last night ashore
Drink to the foam
Until we meet once more
Here’s wishing you a happy voyage home!

You are so freakin amazingly talented!! Seriously!! These came out SPECTCULARLY! ^.^
So totally cool. Only you can make anchors into art! And I love the part “And I respect that.” haha you’re too funny!
Thanks ladies! I caught someone at the store staring-but-trying-not-to-stare at my nails, it was kinda funny.
