Happy weekend all!  Just a quicky explanation on this one (*somebody* fell down some stairs with their butt taking the brunt of it, so sitting here at the computer is a little… ouchy): got a request in for some Marilyn Monroe themed nails last year, so instead of doing full on portraiture stuff I thought to throw a little more into the “inspired by art” category (woefully lacking I think) and pull a cue from Andy Warhol.  Thought it would be easy to knock out, but not so; see, where he was able to just screen the colors a set at a time, then lay the outline work right over it in a pre-measured sort of way, I had to start with blobs of color and actually hope I got them in the semi-right place — a nightmare for my perfectionist brain, in a big way.

Sooooo I started with some bright colors from ZOYA: ZOYA Sweet on the pinky, ZOYA Wednesday on the ring, ZOYA Arizona on the middle and ZOYA Reagan for the index.  Covered most of it up of course, but you can still see ‘em around her neck/chin, and I love them all for how fun and vibrant they are.

Then, you know, reverse engineering this famous Andy Warhol print:

(and yep, I realized after putting the final coat on that I’d totally missed the earring — we’re gonna blame that on my butt.)
