Hannah’s graduating from high school this month (go Hannah!) and asked for some calculus nails before May 26th — done and done! Instead of focusing just on the numbers I decided to use more of the graphs for this one, which worked out for a subtly nerdy manicure (on first blush it just looks like a line-based sort of pattern going on).
I started with a 3 coat base of L’Oreal Versailles Romance, a sheer-type peachy number that has been waiting around to be tested for months now. A little underwhelmed by it really; nice shade, and I like the pearly finish, but getting an evenly opaque coat even after 3 passes was a bit of a struggle. I wish I could be one of those one-coat-sheer-and-go chicks, but my nails are just crazy stained after so many different colors being put on the nails that I *have* to go opaque at this point. Oh for the love of nail… Once that dried I used some black acrylic paint, real ink and the smallest brush I have to add in the calculus bits — totally overshot the scale on this and probably should have gone larger, but the educated geek should know what I was going for here.
Happy graduation Hannah, you should be very proud of yourself!

This is fun, and congratulations to Hannah!
This is cool, kinda reminds me of Leonardo da Vinci’s sketches.
I especially appreciate this as I studied maths at university.
Really love your blog btw
Oh gosh those would be fun to do! I’ll have to practice more to get there, but thanks for planting the seed. And thank you! <3
i dislike math but this is just too awesome
I am so madly in love with this mani.
Wow – this is amazing! Makes math cool!
Thank you ladies! Honestly, the nerd in me that thought it was super romantic to get physics equations from my boyfriend as a 20something really enjoys the idea of these.
awesome
I absolutely LOVE this manicure. For some reason, I am never happy with my manicures. Hmm…
Love the math on nails <3
