It’s December!  The holidays!  Christmas!  Ack!  Used to be easier to get into the spirit of things — something about shoveling feet of snow will do that to you — but when it’s all flip-flop sunny wonderful out it’s not so obvious that we’re inching up on another holiday season (til you see folks in the neighborhood teetering on ladders to hang decorations — I really should take more pictures of these while riding around, some of the setups are hysterical).  So with a thumb at my summer dress-wearin’ bike ride today, I’m rocking a little cold-weather cheer on my hands.

This lovely blue is Deborah Lippmann’s I Know What Boys Like — had been sort of on the shelf w/ this color since first seeing it, but glad I pulled the trigger during her 20% off sale to pick this one up.  Once two coats were set, I used white acrylic paint and a detail brush to add some random snowflakes on a few of the nails.  They’re not super-perfect, but it’s a good effect — and if your hand’s steady enough (read: not given to coffee tremors), kinda easy to knock out.  If you can get the first step right — imagine cutting a pizza into six slices — the rest is just adding feathered strokes to those six lines in some semi-uniform pattern.  The dotting tool definitely helps to tighten up any wonky tips too!

I should’ve kept my lip buttoned, we’re getting all grey rainy crap now… booo! It’s not even festive, it’s just GLOOMY. Christmas lights totally help though!

Dang, you’re good! I love a good Blurple color, LOL! Your snowflakes look Perfect! I don’t even think I could make the lines straight…

Totally blurple!!! Maybe that’s why I like it so much. I was thinking about that straight line thing too — you can cheat the nail curvature problem and paint these on some parchment using the DIY nail decal method; bingo-bango, you get to work on a flat surface!
