Down here it’s All Saints Day (saw a lot more folks down at the cemetery today), in California (living in the Mission in SF) it was all Día de los Muertos, but any way you slice it, it’s November ladies!  There’s this beautiful illustration of Yami from Pale Horse Designs that I absolutely love so I pulled out elements from that to create some Day of the Dead nails to flash around while running errands today.  And since it was all acrylic I felt like throwing a coat of  Wet n Wild Hallucinate over it so I actually used some polish, and added a little bling.

Good god woman. You’re so talented!! Love this mani. I have a thing for sugar skulls…and it would rock if you lived closer to me so you could do my nails all amazing like this.

  1. [...] However, I have a lot of mixed feelings about Día de los Muertos Barbie. For one, Barbie is a symbol of a set of beauty standards the average woman does not hold and I do not personally agree with. If you look like Barbie, that’s great, but to aspire to look like Barbie, not so great. Another thing to point out is that it looks like El Día de los Muertos is becoming a more mainstream celebration – or at least the elaborate and beautiful skull face painting. The art portrayed on this day is becoming more and mainstream. Barbie is an example. Ugh, and I am further falling into this as a consumer. I am guilty of recently ordering a pullover sweater with a skull on it. Oh the irony! [...]
