Had to be done, and sort of appropriate that this will be my last Christmas manicure of the year. Truthfully, not my favorite holiday; December’s a rough one and Christmas has never been one of my better holidays (I mean, even check back to last year, you won’t find a Christmas mani anywhere in the mix), so instead I tend to just sort of calendar-watch for the last three weeks of December and sigh with relief when Jan 1 rolls around. The Grinch and I? We go way back, I love that crusty bugger. And in spite of my bah-humbugness, I’m still doing my best to embrace the good parts of the holiday as they present themselves.
Today I started with a three coat base of OPI’s You Only Live Twice, a sparkly bit that looks like the finish on a red bumper car all blinged out and shining. Once that dried I used acrylic paint to add slices from Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas: a wreath on the pinky (remember these from the string in Whoville?), Who hash (“Why, that Grinch even took the last can of Who hash!”) on the ring, Max, the best dog ever (besides mine) on the middle finger all dangling from a rope with his tied-on antler, and of course Mr. Grinch himself on the index. These took awhile (my brain took a mental escape while I leaned deep into this) but well worth it in the end I think.
… and with that, Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas y’all — hope the season brings all you need and makes your hearts glad.
