I’m just going to say it: these Wet n Wild megalast polishes are crap.  I tried to be patient with the first bottle, but this On A Trip/En Voyage purple was beyond the pits.  I put 3 coats down, hoping that it would settle out like the previous one (sort of) did, but it just wasn’t happening.  The brush is thick and ridiculously shaped (if you were painting bear claws it’d be ok, but I’d like something a little more wieldy please) and the formula… awful and untrustworthy.  Which is a shame, because I do like the color, but just look what it was doing: these pics have topcoat on the index and pinky, the ring and middle are just the 3 coats of polish –

So that’s gross.  I had to finish it up with something/didn’t have the time to start all over, so went in with a Migi pen in orange to add a border — wayyyy easier with the pens to do the picture framing — then added a nice thick coat of SV to help even things out a little more.  Ultimately I think these polishes are only something you can work with if you’ve got endless patience, and I don’t know when or if I’ll get zen enough to try tackling that third bottle I bought, because that’s setting yourself up for buffing, filing, lots of thin layers…  I don’t love this color THAT much.  I guess that’s the big lesson here: if you don’t know/trust the formula, buy ONE bottle first to make sure you actually like it!

Well the end results look fantastic! Love the color combo & framing! Sorry about the crappy application, though, that sucks!

Eww! What a terrible formula. :( at least you salvaged the final manicure! Such a neat look.

  3. Uhhh, that terrible, a real pity because the color is really nice!

Eeee! I saw this in Walmart just a couple days ago and almost bought this exact shade, I’m so glad I didn’t!

Thanks ladies! I was okay with the end result, but that it took so much work to get there was frustrating… Someone on FB (I’m too tired lazy to check, but hi!) suggested using some thinner, so I’ll give that a shot with the last bottle… but really, even if that fixes it, I don’t like any polish where there’s some assembly required — I want it to work right out of the bottle, you know?

too bad for these polishes, but mani is not bad at all, like it :-D

I’m not so sure about the polishes being crap. I’ve recently bought a few of them and I’m in loveee. The brush made it very easy to put on. I barely messed up at all from my clumsy hands. The color bite the bullet has been on my nails for almost three weeks now and has barely chipped at all even though I work as a cashier and usually my newly painted nail polish is gone by the night. I only used two coats and each color has turned out great.

It’s weird, I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews on these polishes since testing them out — some folks had the same experiences I did, others (like you) love ‘em. I really wonder if there weren’t different batches/formulas going on… At first I was going to chalk it up to my local Walgreens getting a crap order (stored in too-hot southern temperatures or something), but now i just don’t know. Sadly though, after three different bottles, I think I’m giving up on the idea of buying anymore of this specific line from W&W. I’m glad they’re great for you though, the colors really are lovely!

I just started with the Wet&Wild Megalast, and as a stand alone, I agree, they are kind of crappy. Especially can’t stand the brush. The wand part sees too bug to fit in the bottle. However, I have found that these are THE best polishes to use for water marbling. You don’t have to wait forever for it to drop in the water, and it spreads out the most evenly and quickest. This comes after exhausting trials to find the best.

SUPER good to know, thank you! I’m totally going to try that out — I hate throwing out polishes so haven’t tossed these yet, but if they work for marbling, then awesome! You’re the best Betsy!

I think it looks cool :]

Wow I just got these nail polishes in “on a trip” and “I red a good book”. I’ve already used both nail polishes and honestly I see nothing wrong with them. I usually apply three coats of any nail polish and these applied great. Love the brush, love the colors and I love the formula and the packaging is actually pretty nice too. I just wish they had a larger variety of colors
