This… this was full-on doodlebuggin’.  I was at the store yesterday and one of the checkout ladies mentioned that she had sat down the night before, didn’t know what to do with her nails, and wound up just painting them all different colors.  Her hands looked so happy and fun, and I realized it had been a minute since I’d done the same: just went in with no ideas to see what would happen.

So I started with a coat of Kleancolor White — blank canvas and all of that — and then painted in some swirls in bright pink with acrylic paint.  It was too much, too loud, and didn’t leave me much room to fill in the blanks without a ton of effort.  Then I remembered this snarktastic comment I got ages ago from a hater about nail art looking juvenile/like “some kid had fingerpainted all over your hands”, so I did just that: I dabbed my finger in some paint and started daubing in green, blue and yellow over the pink swirls.  It nearly obliterated the pink, but I left it just light enough that you still got the sense there was something fluid going on underneath.  Followed that by actually painting in a few more loose swirls in yellow, then used a dotting tool to add some pink dots along some of those lines.  I actually considered going nutso and wrapping in some newsprint transfer, but it was already getting crazy busy, so finished it off with three coats of Ludurana Flocado Arco-Iris, a true rainbow of flakies in a clear jelly base that launched this into sparkletastic territory.

There’s a lot going on here but I’m glad I skipped the newsprint, there’s something weird and fun with these as-is.
