I let my friend take a crack at using the nail brushes to add some fleur de lis icons to my nails — left hand was total practice, right hand was once he ran out of practice space… so I gave him the ring finger and then went all swooshy on the other nails. ¬†Picked Color Club Pucci-licious for the purple base and then more Color Club Psychedelic Scene, Almost Famous and Gold Glitter for the styling. ¬†(Don’t mind the creepy blue staining on my fingers from the previous polish job, yikes.)

Hey I was just wondering how you do both hands with such awesome detail. I can tell ur left handed because it seems like the picture are always of your right hand. Is it just practice makes perfect? Or is it you’ve done it so much that you’re kinda ambidextrous?

Ha! Totally left handed, it’s true. To get stuff ON the left hand, if it’s a simple design or a stamp job I can just apply that directly (boy I wish I was ambidextrous though — I have a friend that is and I’m definitely jealous of the skill). For trickier stuff, like the Cinco de Mayo nails I posted over this past weekend, I’ll use the technique from Creating Your Own Nail Transfers (it should be right over there at the top of the Popular post list, seems it’s been camped out there for months) — it lets you create a design and then apply it to your non-dominant hand like a foil… and is really kind of a lifesaver when you need your two hands to match up so you don’t look like a goof. I, obviously, don’t mind looking like a goof, but appreciate that some people want that sort of synchronicity between hands. :)
