Shooting for the nerd card again, let’s forget for a moment that the season ended last month… after doing these nails inspired by J. J. Abrams’ Fringe on FOX, I did a little searching on the glyphs and discovered that there’s actually a code for unlocking the hidden words in those title cards (way to pay attention over the years nutter). A lot of it seems to amount to where the starburst ends up next to each icon, but dang I wish I would’ve figured that out BEFORE painting the nails so I could’ve spelled something out. Oh well!
Anyway, the nails! I started with a two coat base of China Glaze Midnight Mission; I know it’s not the actual black background from the show, but it’s dark and blue and pretty, and one from my untested pile, so I went for it. Great sparkle depth in even two coats, it’s really lovely. Once that dried I used two different blues (and a smidge of black) to paint in the glyphs, which wound up being a really interesting sort of challenge.
See, the images are fairly ethereal and not the chock-o-block bright color barf I usually churn out, so I had to play a bit more with really watering down the colors a bunch and working in layers so that the polish still shone through a bit. LOVE how the index turned out, but I may have bit a tad heavy-handed with the middle one. And you always know you’ve done something right when a cashier yanks your hand over a counter to get a better look, so we’ll call this one a success. Thanks for the great idea Ashley!
Also, can we just take a moment to appreciate how amazingly Pacey (Joshua Jackson) growed up? Good gravy y’all.

I am so excited to see this design. Good job
