Whoooosh this week is whipping right by! Been way caught up with work and Mardi Gras projects (ack and ack!!!) but it feels like everything is in the home stretch. AND I got my first crawfish of the season for lunch today, so it’s all feeling super official — may even get to catch the Oshun and Cleopatra parades tomorrow if I play my cards right! (because let’s face it, you can never have enough plastic go-cups around here.)
Anyway, had to do a quick and dirty today. Started with a two coat base of China Glaze Kalahari Kiss, a creamy sort of camel number; first coat was kind of streaky, but the second cleared that right up and dried to a wonderful finish. Then I used some mini colored feathers that I picked up last weekend to add a bit of color. I started by putting down a coat of the China Glaze topcoat and then laid each feather into it; in hindsight, probably should have put a layer of Seche Vite down first so that there was a barrier between the color and the feathers as the CG sort of melted and bled up through the feathers in some spots, but it did make for an interesting weathered-feather effect. Once that CG layer dried, I cut away the extra bits of feather and then sealed it all down with Seche Vite. It’s definitely an easy way to fun-up a manicure!

This is gorgeous! Definitely have to try this sometime.
I’ve seen these feather manis before-but I’m just not sure I like them-Of course I’m a boring creme polish lover so what do I know?!
I love how this looks over the beige/nude color. I have only ever seen the feather mani done a few times, and I think this is a fantastic base for it! Looks cool
I Llways save my feathers for an accent nail. But I do love them. Just something er cand quite hand paint on. :0)
Wow these look amazing!
Could I get the feathers from a general craft store?
When getting them, is there anything I should specifically look out for? (e.g. a certain type of feather, certain thick- or thin- ness etc.)
