I don’t know if it’s lack of sleep or what but I am super into what happened during today’s mani. First, started with a two coat base of the Hello Kitty Night Sparkle nail polish, a mostly black polish with some great little green/gold specs in it. That’s not the cool part, but I did leave that layer alone on the middle finger so you could see what it looks like without any futzing. Then I went in on the other nails and stamped some feathers using OPI Who The Shrek Are You? and did a quick swipe with one of the Sally Hansen glitter coats (I forget which one, sorry!). That’s not the cool part either. I hated the stamping (just didn’t really hold up over all the black) so went in and sponged and dripped in some more Hello Kitty. Nope, not the cool part.
THEN I whipped out Color Club Volt of Light, a super bright yellow neon that could never be called opaque, but packs a wow in a couple of coats over white. So here’s the cool part: while the black was still wet, I mostly-cleaned off the Volt of Light applicator then did a couple of SWACK-SWACKs over each nail. Just kind of quick F-you slaps really. And holy moly look at what happened!
I can’t even explain it but I’ve been fascinated with these nails all afternoon, staring at the weird patterned color warps throwing the two together created. It’s not often that I whip out the macro lens (it fits on a camera that’s impossibly hard for me to use with my left hand) but this sort of demanded it!
I’m a big dork. Carry on. :)
