Oh hi! Sorry for the lag in posts — Mardi Gras was a whirlwind, some other stuff came up in between/since and I’ve been off in No-Fun Land dealing with Very Adult Things. Blech. The tempest isn’t quite over yet so you’ll have to bear with me, but goodness it felt nice to do my nails today!
Which are, as you’ll notice, back to nubbins. It’s so weird seeing/feeling the tip of your finger… at least they grow kinda fast. Anyway, the base on this was two coats of ManGlaze Mink Mitten, a velvety purple matte with sparkles like whoa. I confess I’m a little stumped on nubbin designs at the moment so I simply went in and added some dots in Color Club Space Case, China Glaze Secret Peri-Wink-le and OPI Panda-Monium Pink. The first pic is without topcoat, the rest are with (while I love a matte day, I need a good cover going on these puppies).

Love this!!
This is very cute!!!
These are super cute!!
It looks like a purple bubble bath! very cute
i’m really digging the manglaze polish! i’m gonna have to check out more of their line.
It’s a really nice color combo and cute design!
cute, lovely colors
Thanks ladies — it’s simple, but I really like the purple!
How do you get the dots so perfect and not lumpy?
A really good topcoat, and some filing and buffing where needed!
This was actually a trick that took me way too long to figure out (if you look at some of the older posts, there’s some awfully bumpy stuff in there)… For stuff with a bunch of layers or some weird factor that makes the surface uneven, I’ll put on a coat of Seche Vite (sometimes two if it’s really out of control), wait for it to dry, then go in with my nail file and sand it all down until it’s smooth. At that point you can either buff that to a shine or, if you stripped off a lot of topcoat, just slap another layer on there and call it a day.
Makes for a way cleaner looking mani in the end, even if it does take a little more work.
This is adorable…can’t wait for your designs to become a new trend!!! Have you ever tried newspaper nails??? Step 1.)You take an white or cream nail polish and apply two coats. Step Two.)You cut newspaper into squares that fit your nails and soak the strips in alchol for 10-15 seconds. Step Three.) then apply the strip of newspaper onto dry nails and apply pressure for 15-20 seconds. Step four.) Then once all strips have been applied you apply a clear coat to protect the nails. Then DONE!!! They are super cute and can also be done with the sunday funnies!!!
… I did my nails like that last night and they are super cute for any occasion..
I love that technique too! Though apparently I don’t use it enough — there’s actually a category for it over on the sidebar but I’ve only got a few manis in there that employ the newspaper. I did see somebody do it with a colored terrain map once, that turned out really awesome! Which funnies did you pick?
I used Garfeild..they are super cute and fun for any occasion.. Also i once used regular newspaper from easter weekend each one had something to do with Jesus…
Love love love love LOVEEEEE this design! I have it on my nails right now and have already gotten compliments
