The sun is out!  The sun is out!  Time to put something blingy on your nails!  I started with a 3 coat base of Sephora by OPI Teal We Meet Again from their Havana Nights collection — wish it didn’t take 3 coats, but it was a lovely sea-blue shimmer number once it got on:

After that dried, I added a layer of Kleancolor Chunky Holo Bluebell (really more of a holo glitter but it shines and that’s all I was after today) then went in with some silver bullions to add a line down the center of each nail.  Once those were set I added another swipe of the Kleancolor to either size of the “zipper” to add more sparkle and build up the sides a little more around the beads.  Capped it off with a coat of SV and voila, bead add-ins without being super bumpy and snaggable.

Also, these are the bullion beads from Dollar Nail Art: I like them 100% more than the Bundle Monster ones, which I’ve found tend to try to soak up all of the color of whatever is near them (I don’t know if this is a coating issue or what).  The beads from Dollar Nail Art have always just stayed true to form when I use them which is hugely appreciated!  Realized too that I’ve been posting a lot of blue polishes lately so I’ll put the brakes on that and throw in some more colors soon.

  4. Meg says:

Awesome! I love the blue on its own but with the Kleancolor, it’s awesome.

  5. Jessica says:

The blue just glows and I love it! How do you apply those tiny bullion beads, one at a time?

    this is really cool:)

Thanks ladies! I just biked around the neighborhood and spent wayyyyy too much time looking at my nails — unsafe! ;)

Jessica, the bulliions I’d usually use an orangewood stick to apply but I couldn’t find one this morning soooo instead I dumped a bunch of them onto a coaster, found a burnt incense stick remnant, licked the tip (oh yeah, I said it) and would use that end to pick up a bead and then tap it into the nail surface. I’m sure someone out there probably has a super tricky way of getting a line of beads all pre-set and ready to roll into your nail but I haven’t gotten there just get. And am a little nuts/like doing little itty precise things recently.

haha i mean yeah, right? THAT’S WHAT I DID. but the 12 year old in me totally appreciates the pun. revels in it really.

    • mousiemomma says:

maybe could get them pre-set by doing something like your nail transfer technique? like just doing a line of them on the clear, then sealing them to it with another layer of topcoat and cutting out the line to apply them to the nail? just tossing it out there.

    • Jessica says:

I’m amazed that you place them one at a time, there is NO way I would have the patience to attempt that! lol Let alone get them in a straight line if I tried!

  8. mousiemomma says:

love the blue! and love these nails! do you think pointy tipped tweezers would also work to put the bullions on, or would i be chasing teeny tiny beads all over the room lol?

  9. Gottwinkies says:

Oh, my that is a rocking awesome mani! and your comments…ROFL!!

  10. Ashesela says:

This is so beautiful, and the beads are such a cool addition!! :D

  11. Fingers says:

This is so pretty! I am loving it! I’m waiting for sun here so I can swatch some holoos!

  12. Kejal says:

    oooooooohhhh! super shiny! loved it

  13. the nerd says:

Thank you!!! The beads really didn’t take that long, maybe 5 mins?

mousiemomma, if you’re a champ with tweezers, go for it! I, on the other hand, am a total butterfinger with tweezers and would absolutely drop them, or accidentally jam the metal edge into the nail polish (wood is a little more forgiving). But yesssssss you’re totally right, I bet that transfer method WOULD work really well! In fact you could probably drop them in there while the polish is wet and then use a stick to push them around into place/a design. Good thinkin’!!!

wow i really love those, i feel like they would be an alien’s in some show or another. the lines on this are crazy straight. I am so impressed, good jorb
